Varkony to Pursue New Challenges as Power of Women Transitions to Cedar Crest College
Allentown, Pa. (Oct. 4, 2012)—Power of Women at Cedar Crest College will host its annual luncheon and networking event on Monday, Oct. 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sands Casino-Resort Bethlehem, during which the organization will bid farewell to founder and director Pamela Varkony after 13 years at the helm.
Varkony—a respected writer and political and human rights activist who currently serves on the Pennsylvania Commission for Women—will deliver the keynote address titled, "Strength of the Sisterhood... Through Victories and Challenges," followed by Cedar Crest College President Carmen Twillie Ambar, who will share some exciting news about the College’s Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI). Power of Women joined Cedar Crest College in fall 2011 and immediately became an integral piece of the newly launched WLI.
In addition to the above-mentioned speakers, the event includes:
- Presentation by New York City’s official storyteller, Diane Wolkstein, who will take everyone on a journey titled, "Stories Guide us Home."
- Opportunity to meet and network with local professionals and entrepreneurs
