SPRING CHORAL AND FLUTE CONCERT FEATURES CLASSICAL, CLASSIC POP CULTURE AND CLASSIC POP MUSIC STYLES
Annual Performance Spans Centuries and Genres
Allentown, PA (April 24, 2006) – From Beethoven to Band-Aids, the Cedar Crest All College Women's Chorus and Flute Ensemble will present a unique repertoire spanning a variety of musical genres in their annual spring concert. The performance will take place on Sunday, April 30, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. in the Alumnae Hall Auditorium and is free and open to the public.
Under the direction of Charles McAnall, professor of fine arts at Cedar Crest, the All College Women's Chorus will entertain the audience with a selection of popular songs of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as a medley of memorable jingles from radio and TV commercials for products like Band-Aids and Dr. Pepper. In addition, the chorus will give the audience a taste of the Cedar Crest of a bygone era with three almost century-old College songs that historically depict campus life as it was at the turn of the century.
The flute ensemble, with Elaine Martin as director, will be playing works that include a suite of Elizabethan dance songs, a trio by Beethoven and a sonata by the Baroque composer Boismortier.
