Allentown, PA (April 8, 2008) -  The Cedar Crest College Dance Company will present its annual concert, "Spring Dances," featuring an array of dance styles including jazz, tap, ballet and modern, on April 25 and 26, 2008 in the Samuels Theatre of the Tompkins College Center.

"This concert is about letting the dancers explore the endless possibilities of dance and hone their techniques and skills in a performance setting," says Robin Gerchman, director of the dance program at Cedar Crest.  "That's why the audience will see everything from classic ballet to a modern piece set to music by Ray Charles."

Other highlights of the program include a number based on the percussive Broadway hit "Stomp," and a piece inspired by the classic old Hollywood dance stylings of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers.  The hot topics of the current election year have even made their way to the stage with one faculty member's original work that is studded with political overtones.

In addition to performances choreographed by Cedar Crest's experienced dance faculty, which includes Robin Gerchman, director of the concert, Patti Bostick, Margot Clifford Ging, Nicole Hockenberry and Michelle Munno Jacobs, the program features original choreography by a talented senior dance student, Desiree Cosgrove, whose piece entitled "Five Minus One" is set to the unique music of contemporary British singer-songwriter Imogen Heap.

The Spring Dance Concert runs April 25th and 26th at 8:00 p.m. in the Samuels Theatre.  Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.  For more information, please contact the Box Office at 610-606-4608 or visit www.cedarcrest.edu/stage.
