CEDAR CREST COLLEGE INSTALLS PRAYER FLAGS FOR NEW FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LEADERSHIP

Allentown, PA (January 26, 2009)—Students and faculty members at Cedar Crest College braved snowy weather to install more than 130 prayer flags in an offering of good will and good intentions for the new federal government administration on Monday, January 19. (Photographed) Jill Odegaard, chair of the Cedar Crest College Art Department, and Clarissa Leverich, a senior art major install flags, as does senior art major Emily Engler. The flags, which were crafted in the tradition of Tibetan peace flags but instilled with symbols and meaning important to their individual creators, were installed along the fence at the Cedar Crest Boulevard entrance to campus, and the Cedar Crest community was joined by Jane Noel, local artist and mastermind of the Lehigh-Valley wide project which she has titled, "States of Grace." The Cedar Crest community began making the flags in October. The flags will be displayed for a month.
