Marie von Funk of Kutztown is a community advocate and spokeswoman for WomenHeart, the nation's only patient advocacy organization serving the 8 million

American women living with heart disease.

The goal of her program is to educate women about their heart disease risks and how they can reduce them.  As a woman living with heart disease, she has made it her mission to make sure that every woman receives early detection, accurate diagnosis and proper treatment for heart disease.

To become an official spokeswoman, von Funk completed WomenHeart's prestigious four-day Science and Leadership Symposium at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where she attended medical lectures by Mayo Clinic faculty, toured the Clinic's cardiac diagnostic labs, learned about complementary care, and had media and public speaking training.

Founded in 1998, WomenHeart is a non-profit public charity headquartered in Washington, DC, that offers support, education and advocacy services.
