CEDAR CREST COLLEGE HOSTS SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE FOR YOUNG DANCERS
Allentown, PA (July 11, 2005) – The Dance Program of Cedar Crest College’s Performing Arts Department is making a summer dance connection with young dancers of the Lehigh Valley through a Summer Dance Intensive starting today and continuing through July 15, 2005.
Established for female dancers in grades six through nine, the intensive is guided by the criteria identified in the content of The National Arts Standards: Dance. This one-week program will focus on the concepts of dance-based educational philosophies.
New to the program this year are classes focused on Healthy Lifestyles, which will introduce more efficient, stress free approaches to the practice of dance technique. Students will also learn the benefits of swimming for fitness with a class at the Rodale
Aquatic Center for Civic Health.
Participants will take group classes where they will learn and practice the techniques of Modern, Ballet, Tap and Jazz dance. There are also classes in Dance History, Dance Composition and Related Arts to help students explore the creative process. All of the sessions are being taught by the dance faculty of Cedar Crest College.
Sessions are being held between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. daily from July 11 – 15, 2005. For more information about the schedule of sessions and photo opportunities, please contact the College Relations Office at 610-740-3790.
