Allentown, PA (June 13, 2006) – Cedar Crest College is pleased to announce the appointment of Kristin A. Maile as Director of Athletics.

Maile brings more than ten years of coaching and athletics administration experience to her new position at Cedar Crest. Previously she served as associate director of athletics at Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA. Her coaching experience includes seven years as head volleyball coach at The University of Scranton, Scranton, PA and club director/head coach at Club NEPA, also in Scranton.

"The search for a new athletic director brought together students, faculty and administrators who are anxious to begin working together with Maile to strengthen and enhance the athletic program at the College," says Joan Laffey, dean of student affairs. "Maile will bring new vision and experience to this joint effort."

As athletic director, Maile will oversee all aspects of the College’s athletic and fitness programs including working with coaches to develop goals for athletes and teams, serving as a liaison with professional organizations (NCAA, PAC, VLAIAW, NACDA, NACWAA), and contributing to Cedar Crest's NASPA Gold Award-winning health and wellness program, The Health Connection. This program combines experience, education and research in an effort to create a culture of health and wellness throughout the entire campus. One aspect of the Health Connection is Healthy U, a dynamic program that brings both athletes and the larger college community together for a little "healthy competition" to help create healthier lifestyle choices and to assist student, faculty and staff to achieve fitness goals.

Maile received her bachelor of science in accounting and master of business administration from The University of Scranton. She is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) and USA Volleyball (IMPACT certified).
