LOCAL STUDENT CHOSEN BY AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY TO BE MEMBER OF PENNSYLVANIA YOUTH TASK FORCE

Student's Outstanding Involvement in 'Relay For Life' Event Helped Clinch Spot on Committee

 

Allentown, PA (June 18, 2008) – Cassandra “C.J.” Krise, of Flinton, PA, was chosen by the American Cancer Society (ACS) to become a member of its Pennsylvania Youth Task Force.  The Youth Task Force is comprised of college-aged students, from across the Pennsylvania Division that have excelled in organizing and participating in Relay For Life, an overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society.  This is the second consecutive year that a student from Cedar Crest College has been selected to participate in this program.

As a member of the Youth Task Force, Krise will assist in organizing the Pennsylvania Youth Summit to be held in the fall of 2008. This is a major event in which all youth Relay For Life teams, are invited to attend a conference to help educate the participants about ways to enhance their Relay For Life event.

Krise has been actively involved in Relay for Life at Cedar Crest for two years and has participated in numerous Relay events throughout the Lehigh Valley.  Next year, Krise will serve as Co-Chairperson for the Cedar Crest Relay for Life Event.

Krise, a  graduate of Glendale High School, is a junior at Cedar Crest College and is pursuing studies in genetic engineering.
