FITNESS AND RUNNING EXPERT TO GIVE FREE WORKSHOP AT RODALE AQUATIC CENTER
"First Strides" Founder will Present "Off the Couch and onto the Trails - Beginning a Walking or Running Program that's Doable, Fun and Successful"
Allentown, PA (June 23, 2006) – On Monday, July 10 at 6:00 p.m., the Rodale Aquatic Center for Civic Health will offer a workshop by walking and running expert, Jane Serues. The workshop is ideal for people of all fitness levels who are looking to start a running or walking program and will give participants tips and tools for success. The lecture is free and open to the public.
A life-long runner and competitor, Jane Serues spent nine years as event marketing director for Runner's World magazine (Rodale Press) and, before that, nine years as an event director in south Florida, specializing in road races and triathlons that included the Miami USTS Triathlon, Avon Running Series, Orange Bowl Running Series, and more.
In 1997, Jane founded First Strides®, a 12-week beginner walking & running workshop for women. In this 10th anniversary year, the program has reached more than 4,000 women of all ages, shapes, backgrounds and abilities with programs in Bethlehem, Allentown, Hanover Township, Bethlehem Township and Stroudsburg. First Strides has been featured in Health, Prevention and Better Nutrition magazines.
Today Jane is working as a fitness consultant, promoting her First Strides success formula to communities outside her home base, and collaborating on a book about the importance of friendship in a successful fitness regimen. Jane is a former U.S. Women’s Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier and has won national age-group honors in the triathlon. She is also a past recipient of the Fred Lebow Award, presented by the Road Runners Club of America in honor of her contributions to women’s fitness.
