Accompanying Diehl is her daughter Nancy Diehl Elliston, who received her bachelor of science in biology from Cedar Crest in 1966.  The two now reside in North Branford, CT.

During the Reunion Luncheon on Saturday, with more than 300 guests to cheer her, Diehl will receive the Mary R. Little Prize, established in memory of Mary R. Little of the Class of 1909, who only missed one Cedar Crest reunion up until her death.

“We are thrilled to have Florence Diehl return to Cedar Crest to celebrate this milestone reunion,” says Susan Cox, executive director of Alumnae Affairs.  “She is famous for her positive attitude and love of dancing at reunion!  Florence’s spirit is an inspiration to us all.”

Upon graduation, she taught home economics in the Allentown School District for a number of years, and her late husband was an engineering graduate of Lehigh University.

Diehl has stayed connected to Cedar Crest over the years, often using her love of knitting to provide beautiful handmade baby clothes for various College auctions and raffles, including a donation to this weekend’s reunion raffle.  She also visited the campus in to celebrate her daughter’s 40th reunion and her own 70th, 75th, and 78th reunions.

Cedar Crest will welcome nearly 500 people from 25 states, and as far as Hawaii, for its 2008 Reunion Weekend beginning Friday evening June 6 and ending Sunday, June 8th.
