AUTHOR AMRA BROOKS TO READ FROM HER NOVELLA, “CALIFORNIA,” AT CEDAR CREST COLLEGE
ALLENTOWN, PA (MARCH 27, 2009)—Cedar Crest College will host a book reading and signing by author Amra Brooks on Monday, April 27, 7 p.m. in the Tompkins College Center. The west coast native, who is currently teaching at Muhlenberg College, will read from her novella, “California,” published in 2008, and other works.
Publisher Teenage Teardrops Press calls this a vivid story “about growing up in California from the mid-1970's to early 1990's with post-hippie punk rock divorced parents who battle with depression and addiction. The story exists at a time when the fields of orange trees were still there, and continuing until they disappeared, the ideals vanishing.”
Currently, Brooks is working on a book of fiction tentatively titled “The Scariest Movie Ever Made,” as well as a collection of poems called “The Pinking Sky,” several of which appeared in the Fall issue of Not Enough Night.
Admission to the book reading/signing is free, and copies of “California” are available for purchase. For information call the Cedar Crest College Humanities Department at 610-606-4607.
