Graduating Art Students Showcase Works in New Exhibit


Allentown, PA (April 3, 2007) - Seven graduating art students will showcase a diverse array of art styles in this year's Senior Art Show.  The exhibit will open on April 23, 2007 in the Tompkins Gallery at Cedar Crest College and will include works in sculpture, painting, printmaking and collage.  A reception for the artists will take place at 5:00 p.m. on April 23rd and the show runs through May 12, 2007.

Student artists included in the exhibition are:

Mary Venditta, of Allentown, PA, transforms photos of nature into expressive oil paintings.

Sarah Wasniewski, of Paradise, PA, produces large scale oil paintings based on the human figure.

Jessica Morin, of Somersworth, NH, explores existential psychology through painting and printmaking.

Francine Colaneri, of Bethlehem, PA, explores the nature of women's roles through the ages in oil paint and collage.

Marie Mazz, of Mechanicsburg, PA, utilizes sculpture in both bronze and plaster to explore the political and social aspects of modern American society.

Carolyn Steinbiss, of Charleton, NY, uses the human form to convey public and personal attitudes towards identity.

Ashley Collins, of Holliston, MA, has constructed a series of boxes over the last few years composed of personal objects and objects and images with deep cultural significance.
