CEDAR CREST PROFESSOR AVAILABLE TO COMMENT ON FACT AND FICTION IN "DA VINCI CODE"
Allentown, PA (May 17, 2006) – With the release of a major motion picture this Friday, Dan Brown's best-selling book, The Da Vinci Code is still making headlines and fascinating people around the world, prompting questions about the truth behind the historical information that permeates the novel.
Dr. Allen Richardson, chaplain and professor of religion at Cedar Crest College, is available to comment about the errors in The Da Vinci Code, concentrating both on the medieval and modern periods and on Dan Brown's interpretation of ancient Christianity.
Drawing on current research about the historical Jesus, Richardson can reveal many of the factual errors in the novel including the premise that Jesus was married. His knowledge of the topic also includes information about secret societies featured in the book like the Knights Templar and the Masons. He can also comment on the reasons why the film is being met with such anticipation, why the book remains so popular and the context of renewed interest in spirituality in which it appears.
Dr. Richardson has given numerous talks and presentations for campus and community on this topic since the novel was released.
