RODALE AQUATIC CENTER OFFERS
FREE BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS THROUGHOUT JUNE
Allentown, PA (May 21, 2004) - Throughout the month of June, the Rodale Aquatic Center for Civic Health at Cedar Crest College will offer free blood pressure screenings to the community. Students who are currently enrolled in Health Promotion of the Community and Leadership in Nursing courses will conduct the screenings.
"Both courses stress the importance of promoting health throughout the community," says Sandra Leh, Assistant Professor of Nursing. "This is a great opportunity for students to interact with members of the local community while also performing a valuable service for them."
After conducting the blood pressure screening, the students will provide informational handouts and wallet cards with the recorded blood pressure readings to community members. "It is important to have your blood pressure checked on a regular basis because there are no signs and symptoms associated with high blood pressure," says Leh. "Often, the only indication of high blood pressure is a stroke. By having a regular screening, this may be prevented."
BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS WILL BE CONDUCTED ON THE FOLLOWING DATES AND TIMES:
Wednesday, May 26 8:00 to 9:30 a.m.
Wednesday, June 2 8:00 to 9:30 a.m.
Wednesday, June 9 8:00 to 9:30 a.m.
Wednesday, June 16 8:00 to 9:30 a.m.
Wednesday, June 23 8:00 to 9:30 a.m.
