CEDAR CREST COLLEGE NURSING PROGRAM ACHIEVES
100 PERCENT PASS RATE ON NATIONAL TEST
Allentown, PA (May 26, 2005) – Cedar Crest College’s part-time winter entry Nursing program class achieved a 100 percent pass rate from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) NCLEX® examination for Registered Nurses. The exam is the final required step in the nurse licensure process. The class is the first of any part-time or full-time nursing class at Cedar Crest to achieve this distinction.
“We are thrilled with the performance of our students,” says Dr. Laurie Murray, R.N., chairperson and associate professor of nursing at Cedar Crest. “Our program has consistently scored in the 90th percentile, but it is very rare for an entire class to pass the test on their first try. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and faculty.”
The class of 27 students, who graduated this past January, ranged in age from 23 – 60 and was made up of a diverse group of men and women, most of which were enrolled in the program to pursue nursing as a second career.
The Nursing Department at Cedar Crest is the only program in the Lehigh Valley to offer a part-time baccalaureate degree in addition to its full-time offerings. The part-time winter entry program was created in 2000 and a part-time summer program was added in 2004.
