GALLERY EXHIBIT: "mongrel: The Art of Scott Patt, 2001-2005"

Allentown, PA (November 14, 2005) – Scott Patt will display a selection of his paintings in “mongrel,” a new exhibition at Cedar Crest College. The exhibit will be on display in the Tompkins Gallery, located in the Tompkins College Center, and will open on November 28, 2005 with an artist talk and reception from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

"Mongrel" is defined to be a cross between different breeds, groups, or varieties, especially a mixture that is or appears to be incongruous. "As applied to my art, it is the hybridization between concept, consumerism and communication," says Patt.

Since 1994, the artist has held jobs ranging from graphic design for companies such as Giorgio Armani to environmental design and product design for Nike Inc., and this has had a marked influence on the works featured in this exhibition. "Inescapably, in the breed of a James Rosenquist, Andy Warhol and Dieter Roth, I've crossbred my commercial design experience with my own personally loaded observations of life into art."

Scott Patt has shown his art professionally since 1999. He has exhibited in New York, San Francisco, Portland, OR, Tokyo and Amsterdam. Patt currently lives outside of Boston, MA, where he continues to make art and works as the Creative Director of Footwear Design at Converse, Inc.

The exhibit will run from November 28, 2005 through January 8, 2005 and is free and open to the public. The gallery is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. For more information, please contact Vicki DaSilva, gallery coordinator, at 610-606-4666, ext. 3469.
