Holiday Concert Brings Vocal and Dance Talents Together to Celebrate the "Sounds of the Season"
Cedar Crest Dance Company and Madrigal Singers Team Up for Concert

Allentown, PA (November 15, 2005) – The Cedar Crest College Dance Company will present its annual holiday dance concert, "Sounds of the Season," on December 9 and 10, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. in the Samuels Theatre, Tompkins College Center at Cedar Crest College.

The concert brings the vocal talents of the College's Madrigal Singers onstage to accompany the dancers for five of the evening's nine dance pieces. The singers will perform other selections throughout the concert as well.

"The tone of this year's program is pure festive holiday warmth," says Robin Gerchman, director of dance at Cedar Crest College. "The choreography is beautifully enhanced by the live vocal accompaniment of the Madrigal Singers."

Roxanne Amico's lighting and set design will gather the audience around the hearth of a stage-sized fireplace to enjoy jazz, tap, ballet and modern choreography set to traditional holiday tunes like "The Holly and the Ivy," as well as contemporary numbers from artists like Amy Grant. The concert will also feature a very special performance by senior members of the dance company.

"This is the first time that these two groups have collaborated for a concert," says Gerchman. "The singers are truly integrated into format of the program. They move onstage with the dancers throughout the show."

The Madrigal Singers are co-directed by Charles McAnall and Dot Hemerly. Movement pieces feature choreography by Patti Bostick, Robin Gerchman, Nicole Hockenberry, Michelle Jacobs and Margo Clifford Ging. Costume design is by Lee Martin.

The holiday dance concert, "Sounds of the Season," runs Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10 at 8:00 p.m. in the Samuels Theatre, Tompkins College Center. Tickets for the concert are $15 for Adults and $10 for Students/Seniors and are available by calling the Box Office at 610-606-4608.
