Cedar Crest Stage Company Presents "The Ghost of Rhodes Manor"

Allentown, PA (October 18, 2004) - The Cedar Crest College Stage Company is proud to present the Lehigh Valley premiere of "The Ghost of Rhodes Manor", a good old-fashioned mystery - just in time for Halloween. The show runs October 28, 29 and 30 at 8:00 p.m. and October 31 at 2:00 p.m.

"The play is a mix of mystery and comedy in the 'who done-it' tradition," says Marion McCorry, director of the production and assistant professor of performing arts at Cedar Crest. "There are many characters that converge in the spooky setting of this old house where nothing is quite as it seems but everyone is just dying to figure it all out."

The story revolves around Rhodes Manor, a strange old house rumored to be haunted. The owner has long been absent and a forbidding housekeeper is the sole tenant. A letter from "an unknown friend" brings mystery writer Helen Underwood to the manor in search of first-hand material. When Helen, her secretary, and maid arrive they discover they're not the only ones with an interest in the eerie old house. It quickly becomes evident that a sinister force is bent on putting Helen Underwood out of the way and peculiar things begin to happen.

"The great thing about this play is that it's something that the whole family can enjoy as part of their Halloween festivities," says McCorry. "The cast and crew has particularly enjoyed planning and rehearsing the 'tricks' (like levitating bodies and making the ghost appear and disappear) woven into the staging that make the play a truly mysterious and spooky ghost story."

The cast of "The Ghost of Rhoades Manor" includes: Laura Scioli '05 (Jamison, PA), Ellen Doyle '05 (Clark's Green, PA), Sara Mahoney '05 (Bristol, PA), Elisabeth Bach '05 (Shickshinny, PA), Karen Cook '05 (Shamokin, PA), Nicole Hess '05 (Shickshinny, PA), Angela Romano '05 (Norristown, PA), Natalie Hadjiloukas '07 (Bethlehem, PA), Tesha Olivas '06 (Boswell, PA), Christa Hagan '07 (Bethlehem, NH), Beth Anne Ciccolella '05 (East Stroudsberg, PA), and Amanda Laigle '05 (Torrington, CT).

"The Ghost of Rhodes Manor" runs October 28, 29, 30 at 8:00 p.m., and October 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the Samuels Theatre in the Tompkins College Center.
