CEDAR CREST COLLEGE ANNOUNCES NEW ONE-CREDIT COURSES IN MANAGEMENT

Allentown, PA (September 19, 2005) – The Management and Business department at Cedar Crest College announced today two new one-credit courses that have been added to the fall schedule.

MGT 161 90 2 - Exploring the Roots of Creativity and Innovation

A seminar designed to enhance the development of both critical and innovative thinking and explore insights into social and management contexts in which creativity is nurtured and mobilized. The seminar investigates the value of continuity and the need for differentiation and change. In addition to theory and cases, the seminar will draw upon books, articles, current advertising, innovative products/packaging and employ individual and group exercises. The students will use seminar insights to solve an issue regarding creativity and innovation of particular interest to them.

Meets: Saturday, October 22 and 29 from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM

MGT 162 90 2 - Women in Leadership: The Seven Transformations of Leadership

A seminar designed to examine the Seven Transformations of Leadership and our own “action logic.” That is, how a leader interprets the surroundings and reacts when her or his power or safety is challenged. Seven distinct “action logic” categories will be discussed: Opportunists, Diplomats, Experts, Achievers, Individualists, Strategists, and Alchemists and each will be analyzed for performance. The seminar will also examine the four primary components of learning and achieving, IQ, EQ, PQ and SQ and its value in leadership. In this seminar, students will examine how to move from individual contributor to a leader.
