Gallery Exhibit to Showcase Local Artists' Work

Allentown, PA (September 21, 2006) – Cedar Crest College will host its first annual Lehigh Valley Invitational Exhibition from October 12 – December 1, 2006 in The Lachaise Gallery.  The exhibit will open to the public with a reception on October 12 at 6:00 p.m. in the gallery.

A group of 29 local and regional Pennsylvania artists will display a diverse array of artistic mediums, including painting, sculpting and jewelry design, at the exhibition, which the College hopes to make an annual event in the Greater Lehigh Valley.  Each artist will contribute and list for sale up to three pieces of their work for the show.

The idea for the exhibit was born from a discussion last spring between Patricia Hudimac '97, College Trustee, chair of the event and local artist, and the late Dr. Dorothy Blaney, then president of Cedar Crest College.

"Cedar Crest has a long history of supporting the arts.  The purpose of this exhibition is to show particular support to working artists living in or involved in the greater Lehigh Valley area," says Missy Saxton, a member of the exhibition committee and also a Cedar Crest College Trustee.

The following artists are scheduled to be included in the exhibition: Fran Ward Ackley (Orefield, PA), Izzie Barth (Chalfont, PA), Holly Brigham (Allentown, PA), Marilou Cummings (Bethlehem, PA), Judith Fritchman (Reigelsville, PA), Lee Everett
