Dear Cedar Crest College Parent(s),
The Board of Trustees has approved the educational costs for the 2010-2011 academic year. In response to the current economic climate, the College announces the lowest tuition increase in over a decade.
The Board has set the tuition increase at 3%, room at 2% and board at 2.75%. Full-time annual tuition for traditional students for 2010-2011 is $28,567 and standard room and board is $9,540. Annual fees for full-time traditional students are $400 for a commuting student and $750 for a resident student. Cedar Crest College, like many colleges and universities, was affected by the downturn in market condition. As a result, the College has taken steps to reduce operational costs, maximize existing resources and prioritize financial need-based financial aid assistance to families who are facing difficult circumstances this coming year.
During her next year at Cedar Crest College, your daughter will benefit from a number of new programs and initiatives, as we launch the College's Strategic Plan: Educating the Next Generation of Leaders. You will see exciting opportunities for your daughter to develop her leadership potential, to explore new academic and co-curricular programs, and to pursue study abroad. We believe that these initiatives will make the Cedar Crest degree even more distinctive; a valuable credential for your daughter as she graduates. We are also studying our physical space to determine building projects that will enhance our lovely campus and improve students' learning and living experiences. Cedar Crest is very much aware that the cost of a college education is a significant investment for our families. We are committed to the wise use of the resources we share with your daughter while she is a student here.
In an effort to allow your family greater preparation time, we are pleased to introduce a new service to returning students. Beginning this year, returning students who submit a 2010-2011 FAFSA by March 31 can receive a 2010-2011 Preliminary Financial Aid Award prior to leaving campus for the summer break (instead of over the summer break). This award will be based upon preliminary review of the 2010-2011 FAFSA application and finalized upon receipt and review of any requested supporting documentation.
Parents and families are encouraged to participate in the new Cedar Crest College Parents' Council. The Parents’ Council is a voice for all current parents of Cedar Crest College students. The mission of the group is to involve families in campus activities and traditions promoting the mission of the College, which focuses on educating the next generation of women leaders while preparing women for life in a global community. In order to control mailing costs, the College will provide future communications through e-mail. Parents are encouraged to sign up for the Parent Email List which will provide important information for parents and families.
