Forensic Speech Team Progressing Toward Nationals

The Cedar Crest College forensic speech team continues its winning ways on their march to the 2012-2013 AFA Nationals, to be held this year in Kansas. In order to compete in the national tournament, team members must place in the finals of three different tournaments over the course of the season.

On October 20-21, the Cedar Crest College team hosted schools from across our region for the Sixth Annual Linda Baas Memorial Tournament. For this event, Forensic Speech Director Tim Brown would like to thank the faculty, staff, and students who made this home tournament a success.

In addition to hosting a great tournament, Team members won awards in the following events:

FIFTH PLACE - Informative Speaking (Saturday)
FOURTH PLACE - Informative Speaking (Sunday)

ERIN STUDER:
FIFTH PLACE - Informative Speaking (Sunday)
FIFTH PLACE - Program Oral Interpretation (Sunday)
SIXTH PLACE - Impromptu Speaking (Sunday)

In the shadow of an impending hurricane, the forensic speech team next traveled to Seton Hall University on October 27-28 to compete in the Ed Leonard Memorial Tournament/SNAFU Swing, with the following outstanding achievements:

SIXTH PLACE - Dramatic Interpretation (Saturday)

ERIN STUDER:
FIFTH PLACE - Informative Speaking (Sunday)
SIXTH PLACE - Impromptu Speaking (Sunday)

HALEIGH WASHBURN:
FIRST PLACE - Prose Interpretation (Sunday)
THIRD PLACE - Dramatic Interpretation (Sunday)
FOURTH PLACE - Poetry Interpretation (Saturday)
FOURTH PLACE - Poetry Interpretation (Sunday)
FOURTH PLACE - Dramatic Interpretation (Saturday)
