Cedar Crest College Outreach Efforts to Mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
Cedar Crest College students, faculty and staff will bake and serve a meal for homeless men—both military veterans and non-veterans—on Monday, January 18, as part of the National Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. The campus community will meet on campus in Butz Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day to bake tasty treats, and later go to Victory House in Bethlehem to cook and serve dinner and dessert. Members of the campus community can participate by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or ext. 3438.
In addition, the campus will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a special candlelight remembrance dinner Monday from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Tompkins College Center dining hall. The event includes a slide show highlighting the life of Dr. King, many of his favorite foods, and audio recordings of freedom-related songs and hymns. The meal is available for the typical cost of dinner in the dining hall.
