Cedar Crest College Ramps up Sustainability Efforts by Participating in RecycleMania
Cedar Crest College will compete in the 2010 edition of RecycleMania, a program held from Jan. 17 through March 27 that pits colleges and universities across the United States against each other to see which can recycle the most on a per student basis. Colleges and universities track the amount of recycling they produce weekly and enter the results into a spreadsheet on the RecycleMania web site, and overall winners will be announced after final results are tabulated.
To usher in the campaign in style, Cedar Crest will host a RecycleMania kickoff event for the campus community on Sunday, Jan. 24, from 6-10 p.m. in Lees Hall. The kickoff party will begin with a brief overview of the RecycleMania program and the campus’ participation, followed by music from two bands, including the “campus” band comprised of faculty members and students, Doorstop Revolution. Many other events are planned, including a recycled art competition (Feb. 3 to March 1), “green” fashion show (March 15), locally grown food cook-off (March 26), and more. For information call RecycleMania coordinator Roxana Shupp at ext. 3368.
