Cedar Crest College Forensicators End Semester on a High Note
The Cedar Crest College Forensic Speech Team, the Forensicators, finished the fall portion of their season last weekend in grand style during the Off-Broadway Swing at Suffolk County Community College in Long Island, N.Y.
The following team members—all seniors—placed well in the most recent tournament: Chealsea Anagnoson—Fourth place for dramatic interpretation and sixth place for impromptu speaking on December 5, and fifth place for poetry interpretation and fourth place for impromptu speaking on December 6; Alisha Heilman—Sixth place for poetry interpretation and fifth place for impromptu speaking on December 5, and fourth place for communications analysis on December 5 and 6; Samantha Hyson—Fifth place for both poetry interpretation and prose interpretation on December 5, and seventh place for poetry interpretation and fifth place for prose interpretation on December 6; and Megan Newtown—Fifth place for extemporaneous speaking and seventh place for program oral presentation on December 5, and eighth place in poetry interpretation and seventh place in program oral presentation on December 6. Other key members of the team who have scored well this semester include senior Katie Hyde and first-year student Rebecca Lowe.
Over the course of the semester, the team has earned 70 individual and team awards, including a number of first place finishes, and national qualifications for the AFA National Champions Tournament slated for Eau Claire, WI in April. The team is led by Tim Brown, director of the Forensic Speech Department at Cedar Crest.
