Forensic Speech Team Shows Mettle in Florida Competition

The Cedar Crest College forensic speech team, the Forensicators, wrapped up the semester earlier this month with a competition at Florida State University–the largest non-regional competition the squad has competed in so far this season. The Forensicators competed against southeast powerhouse teams like Florida State, University of Florida, Clemson, UNC-Charlotte, and many other colleges and universities that the squad rarely sees in the course of their normal schedule.

The Cedar Crest team took fifth place in Team Sweepstakes, and junior Haleigh Washburn made it through to the finals in Program Oral Interpretation, taking fifth place in a very competitive field, according to Forensic Speech Team Director Tim Brown.

To date, the Forensicators have taken home a total of 36 individual and team awards in competition through the fall 2011 semester with a very busy spring semester lined up—including playing host to the Pennsylvania State Championship Tournament in February.
