What's Happening at Cedar Crest College

Students: Prepare for Success during Career Week

The Cedar Crest College Office of Career Planning is hosting a number of activities during Career Week, through March 25. Kate Carannante, director of career planning, said Career Week provides students the opportunity to become better prepared for the transition from college to the world of work. Throughout the week students will learn from alumnae, local executives and industry professionals on a variety of career-related topics.

Events, all of which will be held in Tompkins College Center, include:

Monday, March 21
Alumnae Panel
4:30 p.m., TCC, Alcove C
A panel of alumnae will visit campus to talk to students about the transition from college to the world of work. Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel.
**Attendees will be entered to win a $50 Target gift card **

Tuesday, March 22
Lunch and Learn: “Job One”
12 p.m., TCC, 1867 Room
Margie Grandinetti, Director of Human Resources at Cedar Crest College, will be presenting on how to effectively compare job offers (looking at 401(k) or 403(b), vacation, tuition remission, healthcare and other fringe benefits) and how to complete any necessary HR forms.

Wednesday, March 23
Lunch and Learn: “Managing Your Finances”
12:30 p.m., TCC, Alcove A
A representative from Independence Planning Group will be here to talk to students about how to manage their finances during college and upon graduation. Topics will include student loans, budgeting and saving.

Executive Women Panel
4:30 p.m., TCC, Alcove C
Students will have the opportunity to hear from local women leaders including executives from Air Products, Women Empowering Women, Independence Planning Group, and Cedar Crest College. Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel.
**Attendees will be entered to win a $100 towards their interviewing wardrobe!


Thursday, March 24
Etiquette Dinner
6 p.m., TCC, 1867 Room
Students will learn the proper etiquette for dining professionally. The required pre-registration deadline has passed.

Friday March 25
Lunch and Learn: “Social Media Etiquette”
12 p.m., TCC, Alcove C
A representative from ADP will be here to talk to students about how to effectively utilize social media. Additionally, they will speak to how employers are utilizing social media for recruiting and hiring processes.
