Global Activist to Speak About Efforts in Afghanistan, Kenya at Cedar Crest College Wednesday
Cedar Crest College welcomes Aldo Magazzeni, founder of Traveling Mercies—a non-profit group that has helped to establish water systems for villages in Afghanistan and Kenya—who will discuss his activities to make the world a better place on Wednesday, March 31, from 4-6 p.m. in the Harmon Hall of Peace in Miller Family Building. The program, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by Globaleyes, a Cedar Crest student organization that focuses on educating the campus and community about social injustices throughout the world.
In addition to his efforts to ensure people have safe drinking water, Magazzeni will talk about work he has done specifically to benefit women in Afghanistan, including helping to create a safe shelter for women, and providing support for the Women with Drug Addiction Project, the first of its kind in western Afghanistan.
