Biological Sciences Professors Make Headlines
John Cigliano, Ph.D., associate professor of biology, and Rich Kliman, Ph.D., professor of biology, have been researching the sustainability of the queen conch in Belize for the last several years with Cedar Crest College students. Recently, they have garnered quite a bit of media attention and acclaim for these efforts. Most recently, the researchers’ work was featured in an issue of Current Biology. It has also been featured this year in publications of the environmental organization Earthwatch, and Sport Diver and Ecologist online magazines.
On an unrelated note, Cigliano and Amy Faivre, Ph.D., chair of the department of biological sciences, have been elected to the board of directors of the Lehigh Valley Zoological Society, which is the governing body of the Lehigh Valley Zoo. The board wanted to add academic, education, and research expertise and asked the two Cedar Crest faculty members to serve.
