Cedar Crest Chef Featured on WFMZ TV-69 Friday Morning
Cedar Crest College’s Executive Chef, Jerry Rogers, is the featured Chef of the Week on WFMZ TV-69 and will prepare culinary treats on the morning news this Friday, June 18, at 7:20 a.m., 7:50 a.m., 8:20 a.m., and 8:50 a.m. Rogers will presenting and tasting various Columbian dishes including a Latin tomato rainbow salad, grilled pork tenderloin with grilled corn and a guava drink.
A native of Washington, Pa, Rogers is a 20-year veteran of the food service industry who joined Parkhurst Dining Services in 1998 as the sous chef at Washington & Jefferson College. For more than eight years he apprenticed under some of the finest American Culinary Federation certified chefs in the industry and, he was promoted to executive chef at Cedar Crest College in 2006.
Rogers is passionate about using local foods and produce that is grown in the Lehigh Valley. Through the Parkhurst Dining FarmSource program, he is able to source local foods through the multiple farmer partnerships that the company has established. He chose the Columbian theme for his Chef of the Week appearance in honor of his wife, who is from the South American country, but anytime he cooks it’s a labor of love.
“Enjoying the fruits of my labor is what I like best about working at Parkhurst at Cedar Crest College–I love to eat,” he said.
