Concrete Steel & Paint; a Film about Crime, Restoration and Healing

Cedar Crest College’s art department will host a screening of Concrete, Steel and Paint on Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Alumnae Hall auditorium located on Cedar Crest’s campus. A question and answer session will immediately follow, featuring a panel that includes the documentary film’s directors, Cindy Burstein and Tony Heriza, in addition to Cedar Crest art therapy and criminal justice faculty. Light refreshments will also be served.

The documentary film follows Pennsylvania state prison inmates as they work alongside crime victims to create a mural. Audiences witness a journey of healing as they see relationships, sometimes complicated, form between the prison inmates and those affected by crime. These unlikely partners work together to form art that not only serves as a method of healing, but a means of understanding.
