COMMUNITY SERVICE
Duties:
Recruitment of volunteers; facilitation of one time and weekly programs, assessment of programs, keeping track of student volunteer hours, write articles for GivePulse.com to advertise and recognize service programs and opportunities, researching community service activities for the CCC community, liaison between campus student organizations and the Lutz Center for Community Service, and completion of paperwork as assigned. Volunteer Program Coordinator
- Supervises all Program Assistants in the Lutz Center for Community Service
- Reports to the Director of Community Service Programs
Program Assistant, Hunger/ Homelessness
- Coordinates volunteer opportunities in the area of Hunger and Homelessness, including National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week each November
- Reports to Lutz Center for Community Service Volunteer Program Coordinator
Program Assistant, Children/Youth
- Coordinates volunteer opportunities in the area of children and youth
- Reports to Lutz Center for Community Service Volunteer Program Coordinator
Program Assistant, Health/Wellness
- Coordinates volunteer opportunities in the area of Health and Wellness, including programming for World Health Day each April
- Reports to Lutz Center for Community Service Volunteer Program Coordinator
Program Assistant, Animals
- Coordinates volunteer opportunities in the areas concerning Animals

Program Assistant, Fundraising
- Coordinates major one-time volunteer opportunities for the campus such as the Annual Women’s 5K (Breast Cancer) Walk/Run, Lehigh Valley Health Expo and Relay for Life

Program Assistant, Elderly
- Coordinates volunteer opportunities in the area of the Elderly

Program Assistant, Juvenile Justice and Mentoring Programs
- Coordinates volunteers for the weekly IMPACT project (juvenile justice)program

Program Assistant, Arts and Culture

Program Assistant, Special Events
- Coordinates volunteer opportunities related to Martin Luther King, Jr. Week of Celebration each January and Human Rights Week each April

Special Hours:
A minimum of four hours in the Lutz Center for Community Service office on campus is required in addition to work off campus with the community agencies.
America Reads/America Counts
Requirements: Minimum GPA 2.5, Interest in volunteerism, children and tutoring (Driver’s license helpful, but not required)
Responsibilities:
- Tutoring
- A commitment of an entire academic year
- Tutor two days a week , depending on site and student schedule (More time is optional depending on schedule and financial aid award)
- Attend an orientation given by your designated site
- Attend all mandatory training sessions throughout the academic year
- Attend weekly staff meeting
- Represent Cedar Crest College at the designated site and adhere to any and all rules and regulations of the site.
- Communicate with your site, site coordinators and supervisor as soon as concerns or questions arise.
- Be prompt and prepared for every tutoring session.
- Adhere to the attendance/absence policy.
Service Learning
Duties: Service Learning Assistant.
- Plan and assist with major campus events such as Alternative Spring Break, National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week, Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Week and Human Rights Week
- Organize and maintain records for Service-Learning courses including Ethical Life
- Must be organized and creative
- Reports to the Director of Community Service Programs
