Have you ever wondered about the history of how chocolate and coffee became domesticated and traveled the world? Join Cedar Crest professor Dr. Amy Faivre in her presentation that explores the movement of chocolate from Central and South America to its current worldwide distribution and how a goat herder in Ethiopia discovered coffee after watching his goats dance. Sample a few stimulating treats immediately following the presentation!

Whence Do Dreams Come? An Exploration of Dreams through the Lens of Literature, Philosophy, and Science

Presented by Micah Sadigh, Ph.D., Professor and Chair of Psychology

Dreams have played a significant role in human civilization, dating back to at least 6000 years ago. In this lecture Dr. Micah Sadigh, Professor and Chair of Psychology at Cedar Crest College, will explore the mysteries of dreams through the lens of literature, philosophy, and Science.

Movie: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (2017)

Rated: PG. Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

Comic Illusionist PiP ($)

Alumnae Hall Auditorium
Cost: Student-Free • Adult-$10 • Child-$5 • Faculty/Staff-Free
Australia’s only Comic Magician & Hypnotist, PiP Comic Illusionist is considered one of the best new acts out of Australia. Many of his Australian TV appearances have gone viral including being a finalist on Australia’s Got Talent 2012. Not only bringing people to the edge of their seat in amazement, PiP’s natural wit and comedic timing leaves audiences in stitches the whole show which they will be talking about for years to come.
This show will be family friendly.
