Program

Program modified based on participant evaluations.

Program has 3 tracks:

Fitness

Weight Loss

Overall Health

Participants choose a track, can participate as individual or team.

Research
1) Surveys will be distributed to all participants (students/faculty/staff) both before and after the program
2) Monthly checks of weight, % body fat, and BP will be done on all participants.
3) Health and Wellness Culture survey will be given to random sample of students/faculty/staff before and after the program.
4) Comparisons of health behaviors between participants and non-participants will be done at the end of the semester.

Research
1) Pilot Survey completed pre and post involvement by students in the program and compared with surveys completed by non-participants.
2) Periodic weights, BMI, and BP collected on students.

Preliminary Findings
Students reported difficulty in maintaining focus/direction after 2 months due to perceived need to devote all time and energy to finals preparation.

Student perception of their involvement in the program seemed to be that their commitment is for a limited time period and not necessarily to create lifetime healthy behaviors.

48 staff/faculty enrolled in and completed the spring program.
