Adjunct Faculty

Nursing Faculty
Geriatric Focus
Full-Time

 Cedar Crest College is accepting applications for a full-time, 9 month faculty position in the Nursing Department to begin in January 2017. Director of Admissions

Cedar Crest College is seeking a dynamic, goal-oriented Director of Admissions who will be responsible for extensive recruiting of students (including international students), leading and managing daily operations of the admissions office, managing the Admissions Ambassador/Campus Delegate Programs, and effectively coordinating and managing all admissions events.  The Director also serves as lead liaison of Undergraduate Admissions to work collaboratively with key departments across campus and has primary responsibility for international admissions. 

A Master’s degree and a minimum of five years experience in admissions, recruiting, marketing or consulting including experience assessing candidates, evaluating talent and building relationships are required.  The successful candidate must have excellent written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; Bilingual candidates and candidates with international admissions experience are strongly preferred.  A proven track record of success in a fast-paced, service oriented environment in addition to managing complex projects, organizing and analyzing data, and proficiency with applicable technology is essential to the position.  The selected candidate must be available to travel extensively, including nights and weekends, as well as internationally.

Professional Tutor – Chemistry and Math

Cedar Crest College is seeking a full time tutor for chemistry and math. Reporting to the Director of Student Success and Retention and operating in the Student Success Center, the Professional Tutor for chemistry and mathematics provides individual and group tutoring services for students enrolled in courses or programs requiring competency in math or chemistry. The Professional Tutor also provides tutoring for students preparing for standardized tests such as the TEAS or PAPA exams. The Professional Tutor assists students in accessing other academic resources, and collaborates with faculty and staff to provide other chemistry and math supports such as workshops and exam preparation sessions. Candidates for this position must be available to work at least two evenings per week.  Anticipated start date is early June 2017.

A Bachelor’s degree in appropriate content area is required; Master’s degree preferred.   Prior experience teaching or tutoring algebra, statistics, calculus and chemistry at the college level is also required.  The successful candidate must have excellent written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. A proven track record of success working with diverse students with a wide range of academic needs is also essential.

CAMPUS POLICE
Two Full Time Positions

Cedar Crest College has two excellent opportunities for experienced law enforcement professionals to join our campus police team!  The College’s commissioned officers provide for the safety and welfare of the entire campus community, including our residential housing, on a 24 hour basis, 7 days a week.  Basic duties include patrolling assigned areas, enforcing laws, policies and regulations, investigating crimes and accidents, responding to emergencies or other calls for service, preparing reports and providing safety education.  Openings include:

  • Full-time Corporal: Middle shift (4 pm – Midnight)
  • Full-time Officer:  Middle or night shift availability required

A degree in criminal justice and/or prior experience in law enforcement (Act 120), preferably in a higher educational setting is required.  Act 235 certification is also required. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to campus community interaction and safety education.   Both positions require a background check, including criminal history, drug screening and a psychological evaluation.

Groundskeeper/Mechanic
Full Time

Cedar Crest College has an excellent opportunity for an experienced groundskeeper/mechanic to be responsible for the upkeep, care and maintenance of the grounds on campus property throughout the year.  The groundskeeper/mechanic maintains an accessible, safe and aesthetically pleasing campus exterior, including landscape, hardscape, athletic fields and our nationally recognized campus arboretum.   The groundskeeper/mechanic also performs corrective and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles, as well as minor repairs.  The groundskeeper/mechanic is considered “essential personnel” and is required to provide various duties and maintenance services during and outside normal working hours and during institution closures; and duties associated with emergencies, scheduled and unscheduled events.

Requirements include at least three years of experience in the landscape profession, including prior experience in equipment and vehicle repairs and maintenance.  A high school diploma (or equivalent), a valid PA driver’s license and proficiency in specialized power equipment essential.   Familiarity with reading and understanding basic drawings, is also essential.  Current Pesticide Applicator’s License preferred.  Candidates must have demonstrated effective customer service, teamwork, time management and organizational skills.  Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, tolerate exposure to outside weather conditions on a daily basis, climb ladders and scaffolding and work up to 50 feet off the ground.

Director of First and Second year Experience

Cedar Crest College offers an outstanding opportunity for an energetic professional to provide leadership for and administrative oversight for the College’s efforts designed to facilitate learning experiences to promote student success in and out of the classroom for first and second year students.  The Director will foster increased collaborations within and work closely with Student Affairs, Academic Affairs and faculty, teaching freshman and sophomore level courses.  Working with the Director of Student Success and Retention, the Director will play a critical role in developing efforts to improve the College’s retention and graduation rates and student success. 

Primary responsibilities include collaborating with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, faculty and other administrative units in the planning and development and success of the FYE and SYE programs, coordinating efforts and planning with SOAR (Summer Orientation and Academic Registration), August orientation and welcome back activities, and assisting in the coordination of the Sophomore Year Expedition trip annually, which takes sophomores abroad each year for 7 – 10 days.  The Director will also identify and establish collaborative relationships with offices that support development and retention of first and second year students, coordinate the First Friday lecture series, and develop, coordinate, implement, manage and promote the College’s FYE and SYE’s programs, including the articulation of a vision and goals for student learning and development in the first and second years as well as the creation of academic and co-curricular programs in support of the FYE and SYE programs.  In addition, the Director will develop and implement High Impact Practices for working with first and second year students, set the direction of future phases of the first and second year experiences as well as provide general supervision of student Peer and Transfer Mentors, maintain and oversee a budget and coordinate a parent communication plan. 

A Master’s degree in higher education administration or related subject and at least two years of experience in orientation, admissions or other related academic area are required; experience with residence life and/or advising is strongly preferred.  The successful candidate must have a passion for working with a diverse student population, a commitment to student learning and development, and strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.  Proven experience with and a thorough understanding of principles and practices involved in FYE and SYE program development, theoretical models, best practices, and current issues supporting first and second year student transition, development and retention is essential.   Strong and effective communication, leadership, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills are also critical to the position.  Demonstrated ability to utilize technology in the delivery of student programs strongly preferred.  Prior experience in event management and program planning as well as demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, solve complex interpersonal situations and prioritize multiple responsibilities are necessary.

Electrician
Full Time

Cedar Crest College has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrician to perform interior and exterior electrical construction and maintenance of all campus buildings, fire alarm systems, data and telephone wiring, HVAC controls wiring and exterior fixtures.  The Electrician works collaboratively with the Facilities department to ensure work priorities are kept, work orders are completed and customers receive follow-up on their requests.  The Electrician must possess excellent customer service skills and have a commitment to providing the best possible environment for education and student living. The selected candidate is expected to provide their own trade tools.  The Electrician is considered “essential personnel” and is required to provide various duties and maintenance services during and outside normal working hours and during institution closures; and duties associated with emergencies, scheduled and unscheduled events.

Requirements include at least five years of experience as an electrician, preferably with a Journeyman or Master Electrician license.  A high school diploma (or equivalent), a valid PA driver’s license and proficiency in specialized power equipment essential.   Strong knowledge and understanding of basic drawings, in addition to experience with applicable office technology also essential. Aquatic Specialist –Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

The Rodale Aquatic Center, located on the campus of Cedar Crest College, is seeking a qualified full time, certified lifeguard who will also serve as a swim school instructor.  This position will instruct swim classes, lifeguard, schedule and provide direction to Center lifeguards and otherwise assist in assuring the overall safety of the Center. 

A Bachelor’s degree in related field (recreation, sports management, etc.) preferred, current certification as a lifeguard, and in CPR, AED and First Aid required.  Prior experience in an aquatic facility and familiarity with scheduling are also required.  Exceptional time management, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.  Qualified candidates must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends while the Center is operational.

Part Time Dispatcher/Switchboard
Campus Police

Do you have prior dispatch/switchboard experience with an interest in law enforcement? If so, consider the opportunity to join our team to answer and redirect calls, monitor radio and surveillance systems, monitor alarm systems, dispatch officers, contact appropriate off-campus emergency response personnel as necessary, maintain confidentiality and other duties to keep our campus and students safe. LIFEGUARDS
Rodale Aquatic Center (RAC)
at Cedar Crest College

Our pleasant and unique Aquatic Center is seeking qualified lifeguards for our busy facility dedicated to fostering civic health and wellness in the community. The Aquatic Center is open 7 days a week, year round from 5:30 AM – 9:00 PM.

Lifeguards typically work four hour shifts and the Center can be flexible with scheduling, depending on availability. The typical work week is 15 – 20 hours total. Opportunities are available during the following part time shifts:

Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Saturdays 6:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Sundays 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Qualifications: Lifeguarding and CPR certifications are required to work at the Center. Guards with experience teaching swim lessons or the willingness to learn to instruct lessons preferred.
