Assistant Professor
Painting

Cedar Crest College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Painting beginning Fall 2018. The primary teaching responsibility is in painting with additional responsibilities in digital media and 2D design. This position is a full time, 9 month academic appointment beginning in Fall 2018 with a teaching load of 4 courses in the Fall and 4 courses in the Spring.  Responsibilities include student advising, curriculum development and assessment, maintaining studios, and faculty committee service. 

Qualified applicants must have a master's degree in fine arts (MFA) from an accredited institution as well as at least three (3) years prior experience teaching a diverse population of students at the college level.  Demonstrated experience and commitment to excellence in teaching, creative scholarship through an active exhibition record and service to the academic community is required. Interest and experience in community engagement practice is recommended.  Candidates should also have a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education and interest in collaboratively contributing to a growing program.

Dance Faculty
Full Time

Cedar Crest College is seeking a professional to join our performing arts faculty to teach all levels of dance, ballet and/or jazz and modern as well as movement therapy techniques. The faculty member will teach assigned courses, participate in course and curriculum development as well as program and course assessment, advise students, work collaboratively with theatre faculty and direct two dance concerts annually.  Faculty are expected to provide service to the college and engage in professional development. This is a full time, 9-month academic appointment beginning in Fall 2018, with a 24 credit teaching load per academic year.

Advising & Retention Specialist/Act 101 Coordinator

Cedar Crest College is accepting applications for the position of Advising & Retention Specialist/Act 101 Coordinator. The Advising & Retention Specialist/Act 101 Coordinator serves as a member of Academic Services, a department dedicated to providing comprehensive academic support for a growing and increasingly diverse student body.  The position provides academic coaching for students and responds to early alerts for students in selected populations.

As an Advising & Retention Specialist, this position plays in integral role in the success and retention of students in science majors (health, biological, chemical and physical sciences).  This includes meeting with prospective students, advising and enrolling new students, and providing academic advising and support for selected populations of current students.

As the Act 101 Program Coordinator, this position directs a state-funded program that provides academic and financial support to PA resident students with significant financial and academic needs. The Coordinator determines student eligibility for Act 101 and meets with students who are eligible for program support on an individual basis, creating academic plans and providing support, advice, tutoring, and referral to on and off-campus resources. The Coordinator attends Act 101 meetings and coordinates advisory board meetings, maintains written records of student progress in compliance with Act 101 requirements and submits all reporting necessary to the state.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field (Master’s preferred) and experience as an academic advisor for both traditionally-aged and adult students, providing individualized support for first-generation and diverse populations in high-demand majors. Program management experience, including budgeting, record-keeping, and event planning, is also required.  Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills are essential, in addition to excellent communication and analytical skills.

Administrative Assistant
Registrar’s Office

Cedar Crest College is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, customer focused Administrative Assistant to provide operational support the Registrar’s office. The Assistant is responsible for coordinating all office functions, assisting students, faculty and staff, scheduling of classes and classrooms, maintaining accurate student information files, and coordinating records according to regulatory, ethical and procedural guidelines.  The Assistant also responds to requests for transcripts, verifies transfer student data, inputs data into applicable systems, and communicates with students, faculty and staff regarding changes or issues.  In addition, the Assistant works collaboratively with others on campus to address and resolve issues or concerns.

Associate’s degree in an applicable discipline preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.  Prior experience working in higher education required, preferably in a customer focused role with diverse populations. The successful Assistant must have excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience providing exceptional customer service. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills and demonstrated success with multi-tasking and successfully handling interruptions and unexpected events are essential.   The selected candidate will be proficient with applicable computer systems and software (knowledge of Jenzabar and Astra Schedule preferred).

Director of Facilities Management

Cedar Crest College is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities Management who will be responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of the facilities, including buildings and associated electrical and mechanical systems, utility systems to include water, natural gas and electricity, grounds, streets, sidewalks and athletic facilities.  Responsibilities also include project programming, conceptual design, total project cost estimating, and schedule development, in addition to working closely with College leadership, committees and stakeholders in assessing, qualifying and analyzing campus and facility needs and providing strategic and long term campus and facility planning services. The Director also provides leadership, direction and supervision to facilities and grounds staff and serves as the liaison between the College and outsourced custodial services.    The Director reports to the Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer, serves as chair of the College’s safety committee and is an ex-officio member of the Facilities and Property Committee of the Board of Trustees.  Over the past three years, the College has invested nearly $12.5 million in infrastructure related projects with another $6 million planned for the next two years. 

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.  A minimum of six years’ experience in the planning, management and operations of capital projects, in addition to successfully leading and motivating staff also required.  Demonstrated success in managing complex, substantial budgets, emergency responses, safety initiatives and multiple projects is essential.   The successful candidate must have exceptional communication and team building skills and be comfortable conducting presentations in an effective manner.  A proven track record of success in a collaborative, diverse environment in addition to proficiency with applicable technology is essential to the position.

ASSOCIATE PROVOST

Cedar Crest College is seeking an Associate Provost to provide leadership and oversight for the assessment of student learning and college services, including the coordination of annual assessments and Periodic Program Review for academic departments and offices of student support and college administration. While monitoring compliance with regional accreditation standards and federal and state regulations, the Associate Provost serves as the Accreditation Liaison Officer, co-chairs the Assessment Committee and the Compliance Committee, and oversees the Office of Assessment and Institutional Research. The Associate Provost conducts ad hoc strategic analyses, college-wide initiatives, and other duties of the Office of the Provost as needed.

Dietetic Internship Supervised Practice Coordinator
Nutrition
Full time, 12 month position

Cedar Crest College is accepting applications for a Dietetic Internship Supervised Practice Coordinator to assist the Internship Director in all aspects of the supervised practice component of the Dietetic Internship (DI) program and serve as the primary contact for all aspects of the Distance Dietetic Internship Program.  The Coordinator also assists in the management and supervision of distance and onsite supervised practice sites, including providing training and support for preceptors and students, performing distance practice evaluations, and providing feedback of supervised practice to interns.  In addition, the Coordinator serves as the didactic teaching assistant and assists the DI Director in recruiting interns for the program. 

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related field of study (Master’s preferred), be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and have a minimum of three (3) years dietetic practice experience as an RD.   Ongoing maintenance of all professional credentials is required for the position.  Candidates should have demonstrated experience with dietetic management and have served as a dietetic internship preceptor or worked with an ACEND accredited program.  Exceptional interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and strong attention to detail with effective organizational and time management skills are necessary for success!  Proficiency with computer based applications and systems, required.   Must be able to use and communicate effectively to interns through available technology and in online learning platform.

Manager of Grant and Foundations

Cedar Crest College offers an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned professional to develop and grow the College’s funding through grants.  The Manager of Grants and Foundations is responsible for researching, identifying, developing, writing and submitting grant proposals to government, corporate foundations, and private funding prospects. The Manager is expected to work collaboratively to secure funding to advance the mission of the College and in support of the strategic plan and initiatives on campus. 

The successful candidate will have excellent writing and editing skills, in addition to exceptional presentation, communication, team building and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines. 

A Bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ experience of demonstrated success in grant writing and management as well as a proven track record of securing funding from foundation and government sources are all required.  Extensive knowledge of research methods and grant administration for federal and state requirements and application of evidence based practices for proposals is strongly preferred, as well as proven success with collecting, identifying, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data necessary for grant writing and reporting.  Familiarity with financial budgeting and analysis related to grant management, development of work plan models, and applicable systems and databases is also preferred. Availability and willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends is required.

Director of Adult and Graduate Admissions

CAMPUS POLICE
Two Full Time Positions

Cedar Crest College has two excellent opportunities for experienced law enforcement professionals to join our campus police team!  The College’s commissioned officers provide for the safety and welfare of the entire campus community, including our residential housing, on a 24 hour basis, 7 days a week.  Basic duties include patrolling assigned areas, enforcing laws, policies and regulations, investigating crimes and accidents, responding to emergencies or other calls for service, preparing reports and providing safety education.  Openings include:

  • Full-time Corporal: Middle shift (4 pm – Midnight)
  • Full-time Officer:  Middle or night shift availability required

A degree in criminal justice and/or prior experience in law enforcement (Act 120), preferably in a higher educational setting is required.  Act 235 certification is also required. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to campus community interaction and safety education.   Both positions require a background check, including criminal history, drug screening and a psychological evaluation.

Aquatic Specialist –Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

The Rodale Aquatic Center, located on the campus of Cedar Crest College, is seeking a qualified full time, certified lifeguard who will also serve as a swim school instructor.  This position will instruct swim classes, lifeguard, schedule and provide direction to Center lifeguards and otherwise assist in assuring the overall safety of the Center. 

A Bachelor’s degree in related field (recreation, sports management, etc.) preferred, current certification as a lifeguard, and in CPR, AED and First Aid required.  Prior experience in an aquatic facility and familiarity with scheduling are also required.  Exceptional time management, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.  Qualified candidates must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends while the Center is operational.

Part Time Dispatcher/Switchboard
Campus Police

Do you have prior dispatch/switchboard experience with an interest in law enforcement? If so, consider the opportunity to join our team to answer and redirect calls, monitor radio and surveillance systems, monitor alarm systems, dispatch officers, contact appropriate off-campus emergency response personnel as necessary, maintain confidentiality and other duties to keep our campus and students safe. The successful candidate will have prior experience in dispatch/switchboard operations or law enforcement coupled with excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to communicate and function well in stressful situations. LIFEGUARDS
Rodale Aquatic Center (RAC)
at Cedar Crest College

Our pleasant and unique Aquatic Center is seeking qualified lifeguards for our busy facility dedicated to fostering civic health and wellness in the community. The Aquatic Center is open 7 days a week, year round from 5:30 AM – 9:00 PM.

Lifeguards typically work four hour shifts and the Center can be flexible with scheduling, depending on availability. The typical work week is 15 – 20 hours total. Opportunities are available during the following part time shifts:

Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Saturdays 6:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Sundays 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Qualifications: Lifeguarding and CPR certifications are required to work at the Center. Guards with experience teaching swim lessons or the willingness to learn to instruct lessons preferred.
