Full Time Faculty

Fall 2018

Cedar Crest College invites applications for the position of non-tenure tracked instructor position in Education beginning Fall 2018. The primary teaching responsibility is teaching secondary methods, leadership and assessment courses. This position may also include supervising student teachers. This position is a full time, nine month academic appointment beginning in Fall 2018 with a teaching load of four courses in the Fall and four courses in the Spring.  Responsibilities include student advising, curriculum development and assessment, service to the Department and College and maintaining a scholarly agenda.  Strong commitment to both graduate and undergraduate programs with an interest in collaboratively contributing to the Education Department and the College is expected.

Qualified applicants should have a doctoral degree (ABD considered) from an accredited institution as well as a minimum of five years teaching experience at the secondary level. Higher education experience is welcomed, but not required. In addition, applicants should hold a valid Pennsylvania teaching certification.

Visiting Professor of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at Cedar Crest College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin August 2018.   This is a full-time, two year position with the possibility to renew for a third year.  Responsibilities include teaching mathematics at all levels, student advising, continuation of scholarly activity, and participation in the activities of the department and college. The College’s full-time faculty teaching load is 24 credits per academic year.

Qualified candidates must possess a Ph.D. in mathematics or a related field by August 2018.  Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level is required.  Candidates with teaching interests that support and contribute to the mathematics curriculum at all levels are preferred.  Special consideration will be given to those candidates with research interests in areas that present undergraduate research opportunities.

Director of the Masters in Art Therapy Program (MAAT)

Cedar Crest College invites applications for a full time Director of the Masters in Art Therapy (MAAT) program anticipated to begin June 2018.  Cedar Crest’s MAAT program began in 2013 and is committed to an arts-based learning process that integrates theories of art therapy and psychology within a studio model of treatment.  The program is actively seeking CAAHEP accreditation and the Director will provide a leadership role in the initial accreditation.

Responsibilities include teaching graduate level art therapy courses, student recruitment and advising, continuation of scholarly activity, and participation in the activities of the department and college.  The Director will also assist with accreditation, curriculum and program development, internship coordination, thesis and other departmental initiatives.

Qualified candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Art Therapy or related field or be currently enrolled in a PhD Art Therapy Program; a Master’s degree in Art Therapy with extensive professional and teaching experience will be considered.  Current ATR-BC credentials required as is active participation in state, national or local professional organizations.  Demonstrated evidence of continuing scholarly work and research agenda, in addition to evidence of competence in teaching, required.  A personal studio art practice is desirable.

2D Design
Adjunct Faculty
Spring 2018

Cedar Crest College seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach ART 110 Principles of Visual Organization in the spring 2018 semester. The class meets on Tuesdays
1-3:30 p.m. This course serves as a basic 2D design course for the Art and Art Therapy majors, as well as serving the general-education curriculum. The adjunct faculty member will be expected to be available to students outside of class via email and to use CANVAS—the Learning Management System used by Cedar Crest College—as a means of posting syllabus, assignments, and grades. Support for learning how to use CANVAS is available through the Information Technology office. Classes begin the week of January 16th, 2018.

Minimum qualifications include an MFA in Studio Art. Teaching experience at the college level is strongly preferred. Access to prior syllabi and guidance with specific project and project formats will be provided.

Cedar Crest College is seeking a qualified adjunct Student Teaching Supervisor for Secondary Education to supervise student teachers seeking certification in grades 7-12 in the following content areas: Biology, Chemistry, English, Math, Social Studies, and Spanish.

Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining a professional working relationship with cooperating schools and districts, maintaining effective communication with the Cooperating Teacher and Director of Field Experience and Student Teaching, and acting as a resource person to the Teacher Candidate by providing additional sources of information and by being available through phone or email as well as weekly site visits and observations. The Supervisor also encourages responsibility and creativity in the student teaching experience, keeps records on Teacher Candidates, provides knowledge about evaluation procedures and creates and maintains a professional, friendly relationship with the Teacher Candidate and the Cooperating Teacher. 

Qualified candidates will have a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction or Instructional Leadership or related field:  Master of Education will be considered.  Current and valid state teacher certification required, as is the ability to independently travel to various site locations within the Lehigh Valley.  A minimum of three years teaching and supervisory experience in grades 7 – 12 also required.

MBA PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Business, Management and Economics

The Department of Business, Management and Economics invites applications for a Program Director to lead the newly established Master of Business of Administration (MBA) at Cedar Crest College. The Program Director serves as the primary liaison between the College and learners on all academic and administrative matters concerning the MBA program and works collaboratively with the department Chair and Associate Provost for the School of Adult and Graduate Education (SAGE). The Program Director will be responsible for all academic and administrative aspects of the degree related to academic quality, teaching delivery, course and faculty assessments, including the selection, supervision and development of program support activities.  The Program Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all college rules, academic regulations and requirements, including government and accreditation requirements. The Director also promotes and develops community partnerships in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas.

This is a fulltime faculty appointment beginning in the 2018-2019 academic year and includes responsibility for teaching 18 credits annually within the department of Business, Management and Economics.

Applicants should hold a PhD or a terminal degree, combined with increasingly responsible experience and expertise in academic advisement, student development, curriculum development and have professional expertise in the business industry of at least ten years. Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level and in cross-cultural or international settings, as well as strong organizational, collaborative advising and program planning skills are preferred.  Demonstrated experience in building business and community relationships, strong communication, intercultural and interpersonal skills and flexibility to adjust to changing priorities is strongly preferred.

Assistant Professor of Public Health

Cedar Crest College invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Public Health, to begin employment in August 2018. Cedar Crest College, a four-year independent liberal-arts college has recently launched a Department of Health Sciences comprising five majors (Health Science, Public Health, Health Promotion and Wellness, Exercise Science, and Genetics & Counseling Psychology). 

The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for teaching excellence in the College’s Public Health major, teaching the core Health Professions courses, as well as courses in Epidemiology, Public Health, and Global Diseases. The primary teaching responsibility is in painting with additional responsibilities in digital media and 2D design. Dance Faculty
Full Time

Cedar Crest College is seeking a professional to join our performing arts faculty to teach all levels of dance, ballet and/or jazz and modern as well as movement therapy techniques. The faculty member will teach assigned courses, participate in course and curriculum development as well as program and course assessment, advise students, work collaboratively with theatre faculty and direct two dance concerts annually.  Faculty are expected to provide service to the college and engage in professional development. Assistant Program Director
Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA) Program

Cedar Crest College is accepting applications for an Assistant Program Director to assist with the daily operations of the newly created Doctorate of Nursing in Anesthesia program and assure compliance with the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia educational programs and guidelines.  Our Nurse Anesthesia Program is contingent upon approval from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA).  Responsibilities will include teaching in the nurse anesthesia program, assisting with program and curriculum development, and student advising. The position also involves related duties such as college committee work, departmental duties, and continuing professional development.

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate degree and possess active certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with demonstrated skills in nurse anesthesia education and clinical practice. Qualified applicants must have a minimum of three years of clinical experience; graduate preparation in the basic and clinical sciences relevant to nurse anesthesia practice; and prior classroom teaching experience. Nursing Learning Resource Center Technician  

Cedar Crest College is seeking a Technician to assist in our Nursing Learning Resource Center (NLRC)!  Our Nursing Learning Resource Center is one of the best-equipped in the region, with three state-of-the-art multimedia labs, highly specialized simulation manikins, a community health lab that replicates a home environment and two simulation centers with streaming video.  The NLRC Technician will facilitate student and faculty usage of the nursing labs and simulation center and assist with the daily operations, including preparation and maintenance of facilities and equipment.  The Technician will also assist with technologies and resources housed in and/or utilized within the program. 

The successful candidate will have an Associate’s degree in an applicable discipline and familiarity with clinical education or practice learning environments.  Proficiency with applicable technologies and systems and demonstrated success with multi tasking in an active and changing environment are essential.  Exceptional communication and customer relations skills as well as effective organizational, time management and planning skills are necessary for success!  Strong interpersonal, team building, and relationship building skills, particularly with diverse populations required.

Director of Sports Communication & Media Relations

Cedar Crest College is seeking a Director of Sports Communication & Media Relations who will manage publicity efforts for our 9 varsity, NCAA Division III women’s sports. This 12-month management position will produce athletic publications, manage in-game and cumulative statistics, coordinate athletic department media relations, and manage all of the day-to-day activities of the sports information office. The Director works closely with the Director of Athletics, coaching staff, student-athletes and other constituents to develop a strong, positive image of Cedar Crest College Athletics.   The position requires the ability to manage a demanding work schedule that may include long hours, weekends/holidays and some travel.  

A Bachelor's degree in communications, sports management or a similar field is required; Master’s degree preferred.  At least three years of related experience, preferably as a head or assistant sports information director.  Exceptional communication, interpersonal and writing skills and knowledge of publishing software, Stat Crew statistical programs, and Web page management are essential.  A working knowledge of Sidearm sports, InDesign, Photoshop, Stat Crew software, Final Cut Pro or similar video editing software, HTML and other desktop publishing tools is strongly preferred.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of effectively working independently or with a team and strong, proactive management skills.  Prior coaching experience at the high school or college level a plus.

Director of the Cedar Crest Fund

Cedar Crest College offers an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated and collaborative individual to join our dynamic development team.   The Director of the Cedar Crest Fund is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing a comprehensive and aggressive Annual Fund program to generate annual gifts from a diverse group of alumnae, parents, students, faculty/staff and friends. The Director will develop and execute strategies to increase alumnae participation and to meet ambitious goals. The primary programs within Annual Giving are; reunion class campaigns and class agent programs, faculty/staff campaign, leadership giving societies, alumnae and parent giving, phonathon, data driven direct mail, and corporate matching gift program.  The Director of the Cedar Crest Fund will also manage a portfolio of donor prospects.

Aquatic Specialist – Fitness Instructor/Lifeguard
Rodale Aquatic Center (RAC)

The Rodale Aquatic Center, located on the campus of Cedar Crest College, is seeking a qualified full time, certified fitness instructor who will also serve as a lifeguard.  This position will develop, organize and instruct water based fitness programs and instructors, schedule and provide direction to instructors and otherwise assist in assuring the overall safety of the Center. 

A Bachelor’s degree in related field (recreation, sports management, etc.) preferred, current certification in aquatic exercise or other fitness/aquatic based or personal training strongly preferred.  CPR, AED and First Aid certification required; lifeguard certification preferred.  Prior experience in an aquatic facility with fitness classes and familiarity with Aquatic Exercise Association or other aquatic fitness training affiliations desirable.  Exceptional time management, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.  Qualified candidates must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends while the Center is operational.

Graduate Student Assistant –

Cedar Crest College is accepting applications for a graduate student assistant to support human resources for our Student Employment Center (SEC).  The SEC places college students in on-campus employment that aligns their academic and career goals while developing skills most sought after by today’s employers.

The Graduate Student Assistant will be responsible for preparing, completing, accepting and tracking required documentation for student employment, assuring verification of necessary information, coordinating, maintaining and tracking performance evaluation process, maintaining budget reports, retention and storage of SEC data, and interacting with students, supervisors and other key constituents on campus.  This position is a grant funded position through August 2018 and includes 10-20 hours per week.   

A bachelor’s degree in an applicable discipline and acceptance in a related graduate program are required. Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential, as is an unwavering commitment to confidentiality and familiarity with applicable human resources regulations.

ASSOCIATE PROVOST

Cedar Crest College is seeking an Associate Provost to provide leadership and oversight for the assessment of student learning and college services, including the coordination of annual assessments and Periodic Program Review for academic departments and offices of student support and college administration. While monitoring compliance with regional accreditation standards and federal and state regulations, the Associate Provost serves as the Accreditation Liaison Officer, co-chairs the Assessment Committee and the Compliance Committee, and oversees the Office of Assessment and Institutional Research. The Associate Provost conducts ad hoc strategic analyses, college-wide initiatives, and other duties of the Office of the Provost as needed.

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree, and have a minimum of five years’ experience in leadership of academic programs, including curricular design, co-curricular experiences, faculty development and assessment of student outcomes.     Qualified candidates must have knowledge of higher education policy and practice and demonstrated ability to plan strategically in dynamic, diverse and mission-driven college environment.    Exceptional interpersonal and team building skills along with a proven capacity for working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment are also necessary for success.

Director of Adult and Graduate Admissions

Cedar Crest College is seeking a dynamic, experienced Director of Adult and Graduate Admissions who will be responsible for directing the activities of the School of Adult and Graduate Education (SAGE) admissions office, including planning supervising, and assessing all aspects of the admissions and recruitment for graduate and undergraduate programs. The Director reports to the Provost and establishes enrollment goals and facilitates the achievement of those goals within the College while managing the departmental budget and monitoring expenditures.  The Director also serves as the primary liaison for community and business partnerships. 

A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years’ experience in adult and graduate admissions required; Master’s degree preferred.  Demonstrated effective marketing and recruitment strategies, including the promotion of academic programs is required, as well as evaluating talent and building relationships.  The successful candidate must have exceptional interpersonal, communication and team building skills and be comfortable conducting presentations in an effective manner.  A proven track record of success in a fast-paced, service oriented environment in addition to managing complex projects, organizing and analyzing data, and proficiency with applicable technology is essential to the position.  The selected candidate must be available to meet with adult and graduate students, including nights and weekends as necessary.

CAMPUS POLICE
Two Full Time Positions

Cedar Crest College has two excellent opportunities for experienced law enforcement professionals to join our campus police team!  The College’s commissioned officers provide for the safety and welfare of the entire campus community, including our residential housing, on a 24 hour basis, 7 days a week.  Basic duties include patrolling assigned areas, enforcing laws, policies and regulations, investigating crimes and accidents, responding to emergencies or other calls for service, preparing reports and providing safety education.  Openings include:

  • Full-time Corporal: Middle shift (4 pm – Midnight)
  • Full-time Officer:  Middle or night shift availability required

A degree in criminal justice and/or prior experience in law enforcement (Act 120), preferably in a higher educational setting is required.  Act 235 certification is also required. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to campus community interaction and safety education.   Both positions require a background check, including criminal history, drug screening and a psychological evaluation.

Aquatic Specialist –Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

The Rodale Aquatic Center, located on the campus of Cedar Crest College, is seeking a qualified full time, certified lifeguard who will also serve as a swim school instructor.  This position will instruct swim classes, lifeguard, schedule and provide direction to Center lifeguards and otherwise assist in assuring the overall safety of the Center. 

A Bachelor’s degree in related field (recreation, sports management, etc.) preferred, current certification as a lifeguard, and in CPR, AED and First Aid required.  Prior experience in an aquatic facility and familiarity with scheduling are also required.  Exceptional time management, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.  Qualified candidates must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends while the Center is operational.

Part Time Dispatcher/Switchboard
Campus Police

Do you have prior dispatch/switchboard experience with an interest in law enforcement? LIFEGUARDS
Rodale Aquatic Center (RAC)
at Cedar Crest College

Our pleasant and unique Aquatic Center is seeking qualified lifeguards for our busy facility dedicated to fostering civic health and wellness in the community. The Aquatic Center is open 7 days a week, year round from 5:30 AM – 9:00 PM.

Lifeguards typically work four hour shifts and the Center can be flexible with scheduling, depending on availability. The typical work week is 15 – 20 hours total. Opportunities are available during the following part time shifts:

Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Saturdays 6:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Sundays 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Qualifications: Lifeguarding and CPR certifications are required to work at the Center. Guards with experience teaching swim lessons or the willingness to learn to instruct lessons preferred.
