CLOSER, BUT STILL JUST OUT OF REACH - CEDAR CREST FALLS TO ST. ELIZABETH A
SECOND TIME
Allentown, PA (November 27, 2007) – Meeting for the second time
in a span of just three games, Cedar Crest looked to
avenge their only loss and knock the College of St.
Elizabeth off their undefeated perch. But though the
margin was closer this time around, the Falcons were once
again frustrated by the Eagles, losing 69-62 at home.
Meeting just ten days ago, the Eagles had won 62-52.
Thanks to some Thanksgiving break rustiness, including
shooting four for 10 from the line, Cedar Crest struggled
early. In contrast to the 10 point lead the Falcons
enjoyed at the half of their first meeting, this time
around they found themselves in a 14 point hole at the
break.
But with a chance to regroup and catch their breath in
the locker room, an energized Cedar Crest squad turned the
tables on the Eagles in the second half. They outscored
the visitors by seven and held their shooting percentage
to just 30%. The Falcons cut the lead to five points on
several possessions late in the game, but St. Elizabeth
shot 81% from the line to overcome the hosts' attempts to
trade fouls for points.
Sophomore Kelly Oakes continues to shine with 14
rebounds and 16 points for her fourth consecutive
double-double. Freshman Keri Lasky, held to just four
points in the first half, had the hot hand in the second
half to finish with 15. Leann Wallower had 11
points and Sarah Cambell had nine points and nine
rebounds.
For the visiting Eagles, Sarah Kozlowski, who has
already earned two tournament MVP awards this season, led
all scorers with 19.
The Falcons' record is now 2-2, and they begin
Pennsylvania Athletic Conference play by hosting last
year's conference champion Gwynedd-Mercy on Thursday.
