FALCONS DROP 67-61 DECISION TO THE COLLEGE OF NOTRE DAME IN PAC ACTION – OAKES NOTCHES 16 POINTS AND 18 BOARDS

Allentown, PA (January 12, 2008) – In a contest that saw the score tied nine times and had 12 lead changes, the College of Notre Dame finally held off Cedar Crest College, 67-61, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon in Lees Gymnasium. 

Sophomore Kelly Oakes posted an outstanding effort with 16 points, 18 rebounds, and four assists to post her tenth double-double of the season.  Freshman Keri Lasky added a game-high 22 points, while classmate Leann Wallower posted 12 points and nine boards.

The first half of play saw eight ties and five lead changes in the closely contested match.  The College of Notre Dame went up by as many as five points at the 3:01 mark before Cedar Crest hit five of six free throws and Oakes hit a jumper to give the Falcons a 35-34 halftime advantage. 

Notre Dame then went on a 7-0 run to open the second half and take a 41-35 lead with 17:47 remaining.  The Falcons tied the game once again with 15:21 left on a layup by Wallower.  Nine turnovers by Cedar Crest over the next seven minutes helped Notre Dame take a 59-50 lead.  The Falcons cut the lead to five at the 3:33 mark, but it would not be enough as Notre Dame hit several free throws to end the contest. 

Kendra Baldwin posted 19 points for the College of Notre Dame, while Kierra Scott and Briana Grap each added 11. 

The Falcons fall to 4-7 (0-4 PAC) on the season, while the College of Notre Dame improves to 4-7 (2-2 PAC).

Cedar Crest will return to action when they travel to Pennsylvania Athletic Conference rival Misericordia University on Monday, January 14 at 7:00 p.m.
