MARYWOOD USES BIG FIRST HALF TO DEFEAT CEDAR CREST IN PAC ACTION
Scranton, PA (January 17, 2008) – The Marywood University basketball team used a late first-half surge to earn a 70-52 victory over visiting Cedar Crest College in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action on Thursday evening in Insalaco Arena.
With the contest tied at 14 with 6:49 left to play in the first-half, the Pacers went on a 21-0 run over the next six minutes of the period to take a 32-17 lead. Freshman Lauren Seale hit her team-leading 19th three-pointer of the season at the buzzer to go into half-time down, 35-17.
The Falcons came out in the second-half on fire, shooting an impressive 55 percent, but it would not be enough to overcome the 21-0 run in the first-half.
Freshman Leann Wallower continued her scoring ways, posting a game-high 17 points to lead the Falcons. She also added team-highs of six boards and four steals.
Marywood was led by Lizzy Green and Bryanne Unger who each posted 14 points on the night.
The Falcons fall to 4-9 overall (0-6 PAC) on the season, while Marywood University improves to 9-3 overall (3-2 PAC).
Cedar Crest will return to action when they host Pennsylvania Athletic Conference rival Eastern University on Saturday, January 19 at 1:00 p.m. The Falcons are also hosting faculty and staff appreciation day on Saturday!!
