CEDAR CREST FALLS TO PENN STATE BERKS IN NON-LEAGUE ACTION – CAMPBELL POSTS CAREER-HIGHS WITH 18 POINTS AND 20 REBOUNDS
Allentown, PA (February 11, 2008) – Penn State Berks used a dynamic force inside as Courtney Bailey scored 26 points and posted 21 rebounds to lead the Nittany Lions to a 77-61 victory over Cedar Crest College in non-league basketball action on Monday evening in Lees Gymnasium.
Despite the loss, Cedar Crest had a night of milestones. Junior Sarah Campbell notched career-highs with 18 points and 20 rebounds, while freshman Kelley Cipriani also had career-highs in points and rebounds with 14 and 10, respectively.
Sophomore Kelly Oakes had a career-night earning her 14th double-double of the season with 17 points and 18 rebounds. She also posted seven assists, just missing a triple-double.
Freshman Lauren Seale added eight points, five steals, and four assists on the night.
Steph Binder added 18 points for the Nittany Lions.
Cedar Crest was playing without leading scorer Leann Wallower, who is currently averaging a team-high 15.5 points per game.
The Falcons fall to 6-16 overall on the season, while Penn State Berks improves to 8-12 overall.
Cedar Crest will return to action when they host Alvernia College on Thursday, February 14 at 7:00 p.m. Thursday night will be the WBCA’s Think Pink Game in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. All fans are asked to wear pink to the game! Those who do will be entered in a free drawing for great pink prizes. We will have students from the nursing department before and during the game passing out information about breast cancer, including information about early detection.
