OAKES NAMED TO LEHIGH VALLEY SMALL COLLEGE BASKETBALL WOMEN’S TEAM OF THE YEAR

Bethlehem, PA (February 12, 2007) – Sophomore Kelly Oakes (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle) was named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Women’s Team of the Year on Tuesday afternoon. 

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of: Muhlenberg, DeSales, Delaware Valley, Moravian, Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, and Cedar Crest. 

Oakes has recorded 14 double-doubles this season, including a season-high 21 points and 21 rebounds in a 74-49 win over Lancaster Bible College.  She ranks 12th in the nation and first in the PAC, averaging 12.5 rebounds per game.  She also ranks third in the conference and 50th in the nation, dishing out 4.7 assists per contest. 

Oakes was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week in the week ending on November 26 and to the PAC Honorable Mention on the week ending December 9.

The Falcons are currently 6-16 overall and 1-12 in the PAC and are set to host Alvernia College on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the “Think Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness game.
