FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO UNDEFEATED DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE
Doylestown, PA (September 11, 2007) – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team fell 9-0 to undefeated Delaware Valley College in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
Junior forward Michelle Cernoybl tallied four goals and two assists to lead the Aggies. Delaware Valley scored four goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. Cernobyl began the scoring by taking a pass from Amy Stafford and hitting the cage at the three-minute mark. Cernoybl struck again off an assist from Stephanie Dec with 25:51 remaining in the half and then Cernoybl set up a Dec goal just 17 seconds later. Bethany Pavlik followed with an unassisted tally 31 seconds later for a 4-0 Aggie lead.
Delaware Valley added four more tallies in the first half for an 8-0 advantage. Cernobyl's fourth goal came in the second half to end the game's scoring.
The Aggies held a 36-1 advantage in shots and a 17-2 advantage in corners.
Sophomore Rachel Orlen stopped 19 shots in the cage for Cedar Crest, while Jackie Deschenses made one save.
The Falcons, who fall to 0-5 on the season, will be back in action on Thursday, September 13 when they host PAC rival Misericordia University for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
