CLOUSER SCORES GAME-WINNER IN OVERTIME TO LEAD CEDAR CREST SOCCER OVER CHESTNUT HILL IN SEASON FINALE
Allentown, PA (October 26, 2007) – Sophomore Brittany Clouser blasted in the game-winner 6:21 into overtime to lead the Cedar Crest College soccer team to a 4-3 victory over visiting Chestnut Hill College in non-league action on Friday afternoon.
Clouser started the scoing off of a pass from senior Lauren Wawrzenski at the 21:12 mark in the first half of play to give the Falcons the early 1-0 lead.
Julie Treen of Chestnut Hill scored back-to-back tallies later in the first half to help post a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Amanda Favreau added a goal for Chestnut Hill 24:32 into the second half to cushion a 3-1 lead.
Senior Michelle Myers made her final game a special one with a tally with 18:35 left to play in the second half and cut the lead, 3-2. Freshman Tiff Britt, the Cedar Crest Athlete of the Week, tied the game, 3-3, with 1:23 remaining in regulation to help send the game into overtime.
Wawrzenski found Clouser once again to assist on the game-winner for the Falcons.
The Falcons outshot Chestnut Hill, 15-7, while holding a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman Amy Stumpff made three saves in the net for Cedar Crest.
The Falcons finish the season at 4-13 overall and 1-9 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action.
