FIELD HOCKEY PICKED TO FINISH EIGHTH IN CSAC COACHES’ POLL

Aston, PA (August 26, 2008) – Gwynedd-Mercy College’s Field Hockey team has been selected as the pre-season favorite in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) coaches’ poll. After a strong showing during the 2007 season, the Griffins received six of ten possible first-place votes for a total of 95 points, just edging out Cabrini College.

Cabrini College earned a total of 92 points to finish second. Neumann College was selected third with 81 points.

Marywood University (69), Immaculata University (60), Philadelphia Biblical University (48), College of Notre Dame (31), Cedar Crest College (29), Rosemont College (23) and Keystone College (22) rounded out the voting.

The 2008 CSAC Championship begins with quarterfinal action on Saturday, November 1st. The CSAC Championship Game is set for Saturday, November 8th at the highest remaining seed.

Cedar Crest will open the 2008 season with a home contest against Wells College on Saturday, August 30 at 11:00 a.m.
