SOFTBALL OPENS PAC PLAY WITH BACK-TO-BACK WINS OVER IMMACULATA
Immaculata, PA (March 14, 2008) – Senior Allison Holland threw two shutouts to lead the Cedar Crest College softball team to back-to-back wins over Immaculata University on Friday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action.
The Falcons won the opener, 1-0, and posted a 2-0 win over Immaculata in the nightcap.
Holland, who pitched all 14 innings for the Falcons, struck out seven batters, allowed nine hits, and walked only one batter on the day.
In game one, junior Alyssa Kabat knocked in junior Sarah Campbell for what would prove to be the winning run on a single in the top of the fifth inning.
Freshman Amy Stumpff and sophomore Maria Mallery also had hits for the Falcons.
Freshman Lisa Cassavaugh scored the winning run in game two on a wild pitch in the top of the third inning, while Kabat hit in Holland as an insurance run in the top of the fourth.
Holland and Campbell each tallied one hit for Cedar Crest.
The Falcons improve to 4-5 overall (2-0 PAC), while Immaculata falls to 0-4 (0-4 PAC) on the season.
Cedar Crest will travel to Philadelphia Bible University on Saturday, March 15 at 1:00 p.m. for a double-header.
