HOLLAND NAMED CEDAR CREST ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Allentown, PA (March 19, 2008) -- Junior pitcher Allison Holland (Mercerburg, PA/James Buchanan) was named the Cedar Crest Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance in the week ending March 19.

Holland threw two shutouts to lead Cedar Crest to back-to-back wins over Immaculata University on Friday afternoon. 

The Falcons won the opener, 1-0, and posted a 2-0 win in the nightcap.  Holland, who pitched all 14 innings for the Falcons, struck out seven batters, allowed nine hits, and walked only one batter on the day. 

Holland picked up a 4-1 win over Philadelphia Bible, striking out 13 batters and allowing no walks in seven innings of work.  She also went 2-4 with one RBI and a double.

Holland threw 14 consecutive innings to lead the Falcons to back-to-back victories over Keystone College.  She allowed five hits, three runs, and struck out seven batters in game one, while allowing four hits, no runs, and striking out seven in game two. She walked only four batters on the day. 

The Falcons are currently on a six-game winning streak with an 8-5 overall record and they are 2-0 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference play.
