Devlin named MVP, Breiner Most Improved

April 28, 2007 - Junior catcher Melanie Devlin (Forestburgh, NY, Monticello) was named Most Valuable Player at the annual end of year banquet. Sophomore Tasha Breiner (3B/P, Jim Thorpe, PA, Jim Thorpe) was the Most Improved Player. Kim King (2B, Sr., Frederick, MD/Frederick) received the SAAC Falcon Award, voted on by members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and given to the student-athlete "who best exemplifies the ideals of the Division III student-athlete experience."

April 28, 2007 - Neumann swept Cedar Crest 12-5 and 2-1 on Saturday.

April 27, 2007 - At Patriots Park, the Falcons split with Wesley, winning the first 6-1 and losing the nightcap 7-5.

April 21, 2007 - Eastern University swept Cedar Crest 3-0 and 10-0 on Saturday. Kaylee Beishline had 2 hits for the Falcons in game 1, while Allison Holland had 2 in the second game.

April 18, 2007 - Cedar Crest swept Rosemont 15-3 and 8-5 at Rosemont, PA Wednesday. Sarah Campbell was 4 for 8 with 6 RBIs and two doubles, while Kaylee Beishline was 2 for 4 with a double and RBI. Allison Holland threw ten innings, with only 2 earned runs and 10 strike outs. The conference win puts Cedar Crest 5-9 in the PAC.

April 17, 2007 - Due to field conditions, today's game is postponed. A new date will be announced.

April 14, 2007 - During game 1, Melanie Devlin and Sarah Campbell each had 2 hits and Campbell had 2 RBI to give the Falcons the 3-0 win. Allison Holland was the winning pitcher, with Alyssa Kabat credited for the save. In game 2, Kaylee Beishline scored in the second inning for the 1-0 lead, and Gwynedd-Mercy scored in the top of the third to even the score at 1-1. The Griffins scored 5 runs off of 7 hits in the fifth inning for the 6-1 lead, and Kim King's run in the bottom of the fifth brought the Falcons within 4, though 5 hits and 4 runs in the top of the sixth gave Gwynedd-Mercy the 10-2 game.

April 13, 2007 - Cabrini College took the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third, but Cedar Crest scored 2 off of Sarah Campbell's double for the 2-1 lead in the fourth. Though Cedar Crest led with twelve hits, Cabrini would tie the game at 2-2 in the sixth and score one more in the seventh for the 3-2 PAC win in game 1. During game 2, the Falcons scored 2 in the second, but Cabrini answered back with 2 of their own runs. The Cavaliers added another run in the fourth and 2 more in the sixth for the 5-2 lead and though the Falcons were able to score twice off of 3 hits in the seventh, the Cavaliers won the second game 5-4.

April 10, 2007 - At home, Cedar Crest lost two to PAC rival College Misericordia. In the first half of the doubleheader, Alyssa Bonner had the lone RBI, while Kim King had 2 hits in 3 at-bats en route to an 8-1 loss. Ali Holland pitched the complete game. In the second, with Tasha Breiner on the rubber, Cedar Crest managed just two hits and fell 4-0.

April 9, 2007 - Cedar Crest failed to connect offensively in loses at Arcadia University. Sarah Campbell managed one RBI on 1 hit in 2 trips to the plate, while Ali Holland, Mel Devlin, Alyssa Kabat and Alyssa Bonner each went 1 for 3 in the 3-1 loss. In the nightcap, with Kabat pitching, Bonner batted in the only run and had 2 hits in 3 at-bats as the Falcons came up short, 7-1.

March 31, 2007 - Cedar Crest swept Immaculata Saturday in Immaculata, PA. Freshman Maria Mallery and sophomore Sarah Campbell each had 2 runs, while freshman Kaylee Breishline and junior Melanie Devlin each had 1 hit, and sophomores Tasha Breiner, Alyssa Bonner, and Campbell each had 2 hits in the 5-3 win. Senior Kim King, Beishline, Alyssa Kabat, and Bonner each scored in the Falcons' 4-0 win. Sophomore Allison Holland was the winning pitcher for both games. With the wins, the Falcons improve to 2-2 in the PAC.

March 30, 2007 - Marywood University swept Cedar Crest 4-2 and 9-3 Friday in Allentown, PA. Sophomores Alyssa Kabat and Alyssa Bonner each scored runs for the Falcons in the first game, while Kabat led the Falcons with 2 hits and freshman Kaylee Beishline had 2 RBI. During the second game, sophomore Tasha Breiner led with 3 hits and Beishline had 2 more RBIs.

March 27, 2007 - The Falcons split with non-conference opponent Chestnut Hill during their home opener of 2007. The Falcons won the first game 2-0, while the Griffins took the second game 3-0.

March 24, 2007 - Saturday's home doubleheader versus Wesley College has been rescheduled to Wednesday, April 4, 2007.

March 21, 2007 - Friday's home doubleheader versus College Misericordia has rescheduled to Tuesday, April 10, 2007.

March 19, 2007 - Tomorrow's doubleheader at Wilson has been postponed due to poor field conditions. A make up date has yet to be determined. 

March 16, 2007 - Due to inclement weather, the game scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Rosemont College has been postponed. A make up date has yet to be determined. 

March 9, 2007 - The Cedar Crest College softball team returned from Snowbird Softball in Myrtle Beach, SC, where they played 8 games in 4 days. The Falcons begin PAC play with a double header at Rosemont College on Friday, March 16.

Coach Henritzy Honored By The Allentown Patriots

December 14, 2006 - Cedar Crest College softball coach Kristy Henritzy was recently honored at the Allentown Patriots Athletic Association's annual banquet. Henritzy, a standout at Northampton High School and Kutztown University, received the Collegiate Athletic Award, given to a player or coach for promoting women's fastpitch softball.

The Allentown Patriots organization, founded in 1940, is responsible for the construction and operation of Allentown's Patriots' Park. The "Pates," whose motto is “building a better tomorrow through sports today,” has blossomed into a primarily softball organization, hosting 450 athletic contests during the 2005 season. The park has hosted three national fastpitch tournaments and has become home to world-class women’s softball featuring Team USA, National Pro Fastpitch, and the Greek Olympic Team.

2006 Season Review

The Falcons finished 17-14, 11-11 PAC under Head Coach Kristy Henritzy and earned a sixth place finish the conference, falling to Neumann College 9-0 in the first round of the PAC playoffs. Rookie pitcher Allison Holland was on the PAC's Player of the Week Honor Roll on 3/13/06, while sophomore catcher Mel Devlin was on the Honor Roll the following week (3/20/06). Holland led the team with 19 RBI, while freshman Alyssa Bonner had 8 doubles and senior Stef Harrington had 6 triples. 

Holland and classmate Janelle Morcom received end of year team awards. Holland was the team's MVP, while Morcom was Most Improved. Junior Kim King was named to the PAC's Sportsmanship team and senior Stef Harrington received a PAC Honorable Mention. Devlin, Holland, Alyssa Kabat and Chelsea Toth were named to the PAC's All-Academic Team.

Morcom was named Cedar Crest College's 2006 Rookie of the Year, while Harrington was honored by being named Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women 2005-2006 Outstanding Athlete by College/University.
