The mathematics major with a co-major in secondary education will prepare you as a professional educator to meet the many challenges of the 21st century classroom, teaching social studies in grades 7-12.
You will be instructed and mentored by a highly qualified faculty: All full-time and adjunct faculty members in the education department at Cedar Crest are teacher scholars with a minimum of five years of teaching experience in K-12 classrooms. This degree program is certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Many mathematics majors in our department are pursuing certification in secondary education. There is a nationwide demand for mathematics teachers. Currently, all of the Cedar Crest students who earned their degree in mathematics with a secondary education co-major have been hired by school districts upon graduation.
