Kappa Delta Pi
Omega Chi Chapter
The Purpose of the Education Honor Society is to promote excellence in and recognition of outstanding contributions to Education. The Cedar Crest College Omega Chi Chapter was first established in the Spring of 2000. The charter members were initiated into the society on April 30, 2000.
To apply for membership in the Omega Chi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the student must meet the following criteria:
- maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5
- passed the basic skills tests
- declared his/her major. In addition, students must
- be in at least the second semester of the sophomore year
- no fewer than 50 credits completed
- completed 12 education credits
An email will also be sent to the education students who are eligible each spring. Application materials must be submitted online per the email directions.
The Edward B. Deery Award is given by colleagues and friends in memory of Dr. Edward B. Deery, professor of education and chairman of the education department from 1958 to 1970. The award is given to the senior in elementary education who has indicated the greatest promise of success as an elementary school teacher.
The Anne Biddle Pullinger Prize is given in memory of Anne Biddle Pullinger, Class of 1929, by her nephew, E. Ellsworth McMeen III, to the senior in secondary education who has indicated the greatest promise of success as a secondary school teacher.
