Award for Transformational Leadership

Awarded to a Cedar Crest College Nursing graduate who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the field of nursing.

Criteria: Evolves an organization/institution to meet current and anticipated needs and strategic priorities; implements mechanisms for evidence-based practice and innovation to flourish; positively influences health care at the institutional, local, regional, national and/or international levels; role models personal qualities that serve to encourage high quality performance in a diverse work force.

Award for Nursing Education

Awarded to a Cedar Crest College Nursing graduate who exhibits excellence in nursing education and professional development.

Criteria: Demonstrates excellence in teaching through the use of innovative teaching methodologies; creates effective learning environments for clients and students; advances the knowledge of others by promoting a theoretical and evidence-based approach to teaching-learning; serves as a mentor to students and other faculty to foster the development of professional competence and excellence in others.

Award for Clinical Practice

Awarded to a Cedar Crest College Nursing graduate who exhibits excellence in their professional nursing practice.

Criteria: Demonstrates exceptional competence in the application and integration of knowledge and skills in the direct provision of patient care; evaluates and utilizes evidence-based findings in practice; demonstrates advocacy and support on behalf of patients and families; provides compassionate care based on the unique needs and attributes of the patient and family/support system.

Notable Graduate of the Last Decade

Awarded to a Cedar Crest College Nursing graduate who received their degree within the last 10 years; has demonstrated leadership and innovation in healthcare delivery; is actively engaged in contributing to and impacting the profession.

Criteria: Received a nursing degree from Cedar Crest College within ten years of the year of recognition; positively influences health care at the institutional, local, regional, national and/or international levels; has achieved an exceptional level of prominence in the nursing profession that brings credit to him/her and the College.

Global Citizen Award

Awarded to a Cedar Crest College Nursing graduate who demonstrates the ideals associated with civic engagement and social responsibility.

Criteria: Exceeds expectations in times of critical need by demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the nursing profession; is engaged in legislative activities and/or professional advocacy for nursing at the local, state and/or federal levels; contributes to and is involved with equal opportunity and human rights concerns domestically or internationally for nurses and/or healthcare recipients; demonstrates sustained commitment to volunteerism that addresses and meets community needs.

Spirit of Compassion Award

Awarded to a Cedar Crest College Nursing graduate who consistently goes above and beyond their scope of practice to improve the human condition of others.

Criteria: Gives selflessly of themselves and provides extraordinary care and compassion to patients, their families and the communities they serve; embeds humanism in their practice as a way to elevate the patient care experience and improve care outcomes.

Nursing Research/Evidence-based Practice Award

Awarded to a Cedar Crest College Nursing graduate who has established excellence in nursing research and/or evidence-based practice.

Criteria: Actively conducting and/or utilizing scientific research findings with implications for nursing knowledge and/or clinical practice at the unit, service, institutional, national or professional level; is recognized as an educator, mentor, or facilitator in guiding and supporting others by assisting in the conduct of their own research and/or evidence-based practice efforts (i.e. graduate students, other nurse researchers, staff nurses).
