Careers in Psychology

Learn about some of the avenues open to psychology majors.

The professional applications of a psychology degree are endless: Since psychology is the study of the mind and how it affects behavior, virtually every career path in existence can be enhanced by a strong understanding of psychology.

At Cedar Crest College, our psychology programs are designed to prepare you for a wider array of careers than other programs because our curriculum extends beyond the basic principles of psychology. Here, you will receive a high-quality education coupled with numerous opportunities to conduct and present your own research, which will make you more marketable to future graduate schools and future employers.

Career Opportunities

Students who graduate with a bachelor’s degree in psychology are well-suited for graduate school or a career in one of many areas including:

Career Planning Resources

As you approach graduation, our department will offer you numerous resources, including a career development course, networking opportunities, and our College’s career planning office. If you choose to participate in our career planning coursework, you will also gain direct assistance from faculty in writing resumes, completing graduate school applications, searching for a job and more.

The psychology department also maintains strong relationships with our alumnae. We often invite former students to the campus to talk to current students and to answer any of their questions. This allows students to hear from professionals whose background is similar to their own and also provides a great opportunity for networking.

Internships and Field Work

Many of our students gain a great deal of real-world experience through internships and fieldwork, which they tackle in addition to their daily course load. Our faculty and career planning office will help you locate internships in the local area, particularly ones that best suit your interests and career goals.
